Zakeen Johnson, of the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 27, after the task force executed search warrants at addresses in both the Town of Poughkeepsie and the Town of Lloyd, said Frank Tasciotti, assistant coordinator of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.
The warrants were a result of investigations into narcotics sales taking place at and around those locations, said Tasciotti.
During the searches of the residences approximately a half-ounce of cocaine, an illegally possessed .45 caliber handgun, $1,750 in cash, packaging materials, scales, and three vehicles that were used for narcotics distribution were seized, he added.
Johnson was charged with criminal possession of a control substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
Assisting in the investigation were the New York State Police VGNET, Ulster County URGENT, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, and Town of Lloyd Police.
Additional charges may be pending.
